A Historic Weekend for Lightning Hockey!

In one of the most successful weekends in Lightning history, seven teams entered the LIAHL playoffs with championship aspirations. Four teams fought through intense semi-final matchups to earn their spot in the finals—and three emerged as champions!

🔹 13U Championship Thriller

The 13U Lightning battled Aviator in a nail-biting final. After three hard-fought periods, the score remained locked at 1-1. A tense 10-minute overtime settled nothing, sending the game to a dramatic shootout. Clutch goals from Pete Duva and Hudson Brenke, along with stellar goaltending from Luca Romeo, secured the championship victory.

🔹 16U A Dominates

Entering the playoffs as the top seed, the 16U A team delivered a commanding performance. After a decisive semi-final win over the Peconic Wildcats, they faced the LI Sharks in the final. Behind an MVP-worthy effort from Will Ria, the Lightning soared to a 5-2 victory, claiming the title.

🔹 16U AA’s Redemption

Facing a tough challenge against the LI Rebels—one of the only teams to hand them a loss this season—the 16U AA squad rose to the occasion. With an outstanding defensive effort and a shutout performance by goalie Jackson Lopez, the Lightning secured a hard-fought 1-0 championship win.
